Description
In Telugu paalu means milk and poththulu means cob but is generally understood to be corn on the cob. So this dish gets its name from the two main ingredients. Of course a lot more goes into making this delicious recipe.
Ingredients
Pro tip: for each cob of corn, use 1.5 cups of milk
- 4 cobs of corn
- 6 cups of milk
- 1 large onion
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 2" piece of ginger
- 4 green chillies
- 4 stalks of cilantro
- 2 tbsp rice flour
- 2 tsp cumin seeds
- 6 cloves
- 4" stick of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Chop the corn on the cob into 2" discs
- Pressure-cook the corn, milk, rice flour, and salt for 4 whistles
- Grind half the onion with garlic, ginger, green chillies and half the cilantro
- Dice the remaining half of the onion
- In a wok, heat the oil and fry the cumin seeds, cloves and cinnamon stick
- Add the diced onions and fry until translucent
- Add the ground mixture and fry until everything has turned golden brown
- Depressurize the cooker and add its contents to the wok
- Boil the contents for 15 minutes and turn off heat
Serve hot over rice
